Pop-Up Community Saunas Arrive at IQL North
The wintery conditions in east London make this the perfect time to announce new and exciting meanwhile updates at our IQL North site. We have now received planning permission for a series of new, purpose-driven uses within the temporary provision, the first of which is London’s first pop-up community sauna on the northern edge of the Gardens!
Run by our friends from Hackney Wick Community Sauna Baths, who started the non-profit initiative in 2021, the site now proudly hosts three authentic Finnish saunas, four ice baths and two cold water showers. Community Sauna Baths aims to promote the mental and physical benefits of traditional sauna therapy alongside special events such as sound baths, storytelling and grief sauna.
“We are thrilled to open up here in Stratford’s best-loved community garden. It is the perfect place to take the edge off and find calm and clarity away from the busyness of urban living. Our work is about building communities and raising awareness of sauna culture, and working with Hadley has allowed us to bring authentic saunas to residents and neighbours of an amazing location whilst keeping it affordable and accessible.”
