Back to School at Colnbrook
For the last two years, Hadley has been proudly supporting Colnbrook School in Watford, which specialises in Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Speech and Language Difficulties.
The team at Colnbrook provides an exceptional education for the pupils and the school features a range of specialist facilities to enhance their learning, from a sensory garden to a dog that helps the children with reading.
With the recent lockdown, lots of the staff, children and their families have had to adapt to big changes in their daily lives and adjust to the challenges of home schooling.
The teachers have gone above and beyond to help and support their pupils from a distance, recording videos and coming up with creative ideas for learning activities at home - such as arts and crafts sessions to make cards for their friends that they’re missing being with every day.
Throughout lockdown, the Colnbrook team have also delivered food parcels to over 50 families, supplying them with cupboard groceries and large fresh fruit and vegetable boxes.
The children are a true inspiration as they have shown themselves to be flexible and accepting. We will come out of this stronger and grateful for many of the things that, before this pandemic a year ago, we took for granted.
Having juggled a complex rota of attendance for children of key workers and those particularly vulnerable, last week the whole Colnbrook family were able to reunite at school once again.
I am so pleased Colnbrook school, which is such a special place, will revert to the thriving hub of learning activity it deserves to be. The staff have been incredible helping families like mine through these challenging times, and I can’t thank them enough for all their efforts to make it safe for the children to return.
We applaud the remarkable work of everyone at Colnbrook to support and enrich the children’s lives and education – and we wish the staff and pupils a very happy return to school.
